SOLD OUT - Spectator Wine School Masterclasses 2024

Join us for this year’s series of Spectator Wine School masterclasses, held in the boardroom at 22 Old Queen Street in association with Private Cellar.

Expert guidance will be offered by Private Cellar’s Laura Taylor and Jonathan Ray, The Spectator’s drinks editor, with readers enjoying a welcome aperitif and a minimum of six tasting wines each session.

Four extremely congenial, instructive evening classes will run across 2024:

Bordeaux Masterclass, Thursday 2 May 2024 - SOLD OUT

There’s nowhere to touch Bordeaux for prestige and we will learn how the region’s history and geography have made it the world’s leading wine region. We will start in the Left Bank, where Cabernet is king, before dipping into the Right Bank, where Merlot reigns, as well as tasting dry whites and sweet whites and discussing how best to buy en primeur.

Rosé Masterclass, Thursday 20 June 2024 - SOLD OUT

The rosé boom continues and what was once simply deemed a swimming pool wine is now taken as seriously by those in the know as the finest reds and whites. First rate examples can be found in almost every wine growing region, proving that there’s life beyond Provence. Find out how rosé is made (both still and sparkling), where to go for the tastiest and how best to enjoy it.

Italy Masterclass, Thursday 10 Oct 2024 - SOLD OUT

Italian wine is the subject that readers tell us they would most like to learn about and this masterclass promises to be a fascinating session. Known as Enotria, the land of wine, Italy grows more grape varieties than any other country and its wines are famously, wonderfully varied. We will discover, learn about and taste as many as we can in the time availabl

Burgundy Masterclass, Thursday 5 Dec 2024 - SOLD OUT

Beloved of collectors and drinkers alike, Burgundy remains as popular – and pricey – as ever. Ahead of the new vintage release, Laura will take us on a trip through the Côte d’Or, taking in such famous names as Gevrey Chambertin, Nuits St George and Puligny Montrachet whilst also showing us the inside track, where excellent value is still to be found.

All 6.30 to 8pm and tickets are £100 each
