The Ultimate Wild Life Safari with Aidan Hartley | Kenya | 18 – 24 October 2027 | From £8,500
The Spectator, in association with Big Wild Safaris, invites you on a seven-day, all-inclusive, luxury safari to Kenya, hosted by Wild Life columnist Aidan Hartley and his professional bush guide nephew, Tom.
This is a trip for readers who love to explore Africa’s incredible wilderness landscapes, encountering Samburu pastoralist culture and abundant wildlife off the beaten track. The tour will offer both an authentic bush experience, along with good food and wine and stories of old Africa around the campfire.
With Aidan and Tom leading the team, the safari will set off from Nairobi with a brief private charter flight to Reteti House in Sarara Conservancy, on the northern hills of Samburu. Guests will be able to walk in the bush, stargaze, go on game drives, visit the Samburus’ singing wells and meet Reteti’s orphaned elephants.
The safari then moves on by bush plane to Enasoit private Conservancy in Laikipia, just northwest of Mount Kenya, to stay in an understated and very comfortable family-owned camp. After the wilderness experiences of Samburu, our guests on the conservancy will enjoy viewing abundant game, spectacular food and wine and luxury lodgings – all away from the crowds of a normal national park. Tom, a passionate conservationist, will guide guests on the safari while Aidan will talk about Kenya’s history and culture and life in the rugged north.
At the end of the week, guests will fly back to Nairobi for their journeys home, or they could make onward plans with Big Wild Safaris for travel elsewhere in the country, including Kenya’s Indian Ocean coast.
