Cider Tasting Event with Jonathan Ray and Jane Peyton
Join us online on Thursday 12 November at 7.00 p.m. for a suitably autumnal celebration and tasting of our glorious native drink: cider.
Britain is the world’s leading producer and consumer of cider and for many centuries it was known and referred to as the English wine. We will taste a number of first-class examples courtesy of the Fine Cider Company (suppliers to Michelin star restaurants including The Fat Duck), guided by the award-winning drinks writer Jane Peyton, founder and principal of the School of Booze, the UK’s first accredited Pommelier (cider sommelier) and Drinks Ambassador for Love British Food.
Jane knows all there is to know about cider and we will learn about its history, its methods of production and how to match acidic, tannic and sweet ciders to food. And if you thought cider was simply rough stuff drunks and teenagers knocked back in the park, you will see this most wonderful and diverse of drinks in a completely different light.
Readers will receive a pack of six 750ml bottles of superb artisanal ciders – two bottles of three different styles/producers – and entry to the online tasting for just £80 per person (and E, EC & N London postcodes will save the £10 on P&P).
This promises to be a hugely entertaining event so book now to avoid disappointment.
The video will be made available in the Spectator Club 24 hours after the live tasting should you not be able to join us.
