An access-all-areas tour of the Napa Valley and Sonoma County, November 2026
A seven-night holiday from 17 November 2026
After a hugely successful 2025, with tours to Bordeaux, Budapest, Champagne and Porto, the Spectator Wine Club, led by drinks editor, Jonathan Ray, is broadening its horizons and going transatlantic with an access-all-areas tour of the Napa Valley and Sonoma County.
Based in Andaz by Hyatt in downtown Napa itself, we will head up and down the valley visiting St. Helena, Yountville and Calistoga whilst taking in such great names as Domaine Carneros, Grgich Hills, Inglenook, Joseph Phelps, Schrader and Staglin to name but a few of our pit stops, several of which rarely host visits.
It’s clear that we will drink well and we will eat well too with lunches and dinners at some of the regions finest spots including Johnny’s favourite, Mustard’s Grill – “Always meat, sometimes potatoes, occasionally vegetables”.
With flights in and out of both San Francisco and Oakland available and the option of extending your stay beforehand or afterwards, this promises to be a hugely entertaining, wine-fuelled jaunt made extra special by it being the 250th birthday year of the USA.
Do join us!
Day 1: We fly to San Francisco and transfer to our hotel in downtown Napa, the 4* Andaz by Hyatt. This evening, we have dinner at the hotel’s Mercantile Terrace Restaurant with local wines.
Day 2: Today we explore Napa on foot including a visit to Robert Mondavi
Day 3: Heading north into the vineyards of the Napa Valley itself, we visit two exceptional producers today, Grgich Hills and Joseph Phelps.
Day 4: This morning we cross into the Russian River Valley, where we enjoy a delicious paella lunch with our friends at Marimar, accompanied by their excellent wines. In the afternoon there will be an optional visit to the nearby Osmosis spa.
Day 5: We spend today in the charming small town of St Helena, and there will be two wine visits, to Inglenook and Spotswoode.
Day 6: The Sonoma Valley is our focus today, including a visit to Domaine Carneros including lunch, and some free time in Sonoma itself.
Day 7: Heading back into the Napa Valley we will start today at Outpost winery, before spending the afternoon at Calistoga Springs. In the evening we will board the Napa Valley Wine Train for dinner.
Day 8: After a free morning, we head back to San Francisco for our flight back to the UK. Should you wish to extend your stay in California, please do speak to a Kirker expert for more information.
