Win a thrilling theatre break to see The Spy Who Came in from the Cold at @sohoplace and an overnight stay

John le Carré on stage at last

For the first time, a novel by John le Carré – the undisputed master of the modern spy genre – is brought to life in a thrilling stage adaptation and we’ve got two tickets and an overnight stay at The Royal Horseguards Hotel to give away.

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, is now playing in the West End and is the theatrical event of the winter: a journey through the fog-shrouded terrain of Cold War espionage, deception and moral compromise.

British intelligence officer Alec Leamas is weary, hardened and ready to come in from the cold. But when Control, the Chief of the Circus, presents one final mission – dangerous, deceptive and deeply personal – Leamas agrees to stay in the game. Dispatched into enemy territory, he finds his convictions tested and his defences breached by Liz Gold, a quietly defiant librarian whose compassion threatens to thaw his frostbitten heart. And what of veteran spymaster George Smiley? What is his role in the operation?

The Royal Horseguards Hotel

An impressive historic building, The Royal Horseguards Hotel is situated on the Thames at the Embankment. The hotel encompasses two buildings: The National Liberal Club, which has played host to historical icons including Churchill, Gladstone and Lloyd-George; and the club’s magnificent apartments which were previously the home of the first chief of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service.
