Win a pair of tickets to our next Spectator Writers’ Dinner with Richard Bratby, our classical music and opera critic, on Thursday 17 July

One lucky reader will win a pair of tickets to join us in the boardroom for the next in our series of Spectator Writers’ Dinners with Richard Bratby, cat lover, steam enthusiast, cultural historian and longtime classical music and opera critic for The Spectator.

You and a guest will be part of the conversation as Richard chats to us about the musical history of Spectator HQ (22 Old Queen Street, the former home of arts patron Frank Schuster and frequented by the likes of Sir Edward Elgar, Gabriel Fauré and Sir Adrian Boult), the state of British opera and why modern opera productions are so weird. You’ll also enjoy a fine four-course dinner paired with wines supplied by Château Léoube, introduced by drinks editor Jonathan Ray.

Spectator Writers’ Dinner with Richard Bratby, Thursday 17 July | 7 for 7:30pm

Terms & conditions: The competition closes on 30 June 2025. Entrants must be 18 or over and available to join the dinner in London on Thursday 17 July. Tickets are worth £195 each and there is no cash alternative. No travel or accommodation expenses are included in this prize.

A note on our events: All our events are relaxed and informal (there is nothing so stuffy as a dress code), giving guests the chance to enjoy fine wine and conversation with fellow Spectator readers. Some come in couples, but many come on their own, and firm friendships have been forged here over the Cru Classé claret. See all our wine events here.
