Budapest, Eger and Tokaj Winemaker Trip with Jonathan Ray, 19-24 June 2025
After the thundering success of our Spectator Wine Club tours to Bordeaux, Champagne and Hungary last year, we’re delighted to announce the schedule for 2025 and encourage you to join us.
Led by drinks editor Jonathan Ray, you will visit tip-top wineries – several of which don’t normally welcome visitors – and drink wines not normally on offer. You will mingle with fellow Spectator readers and, we promise, will not go thirsty. Think of our tours as roving and very genial, modestly-sized drinks parties.
Budapest, Eger and Tokaj I 19-24 June 2025
Based at the Hotel Prestige, we will have three days in Budapest with visits to the celebrated Szchesnyi Baths, the Castle District, the Cathedral and the National Gallery, as well as an optional night at the spectacular Hungarian State Opera. We will dine in fine local restaurants (including the fabled Gundel in Budapest City Park) and there will be plenty of time to explore at your leisure before we head across the Great Hungarian Plain to Eger for a Bull’s Blood-fuelled pit-stop and lunch. We will then spend two nights at the Degenfeld Castle Hotel in Tokaj and enjoy tastings at two of the finest producers of Tokaji: the Royal Tokaji Co and Disznókó.
5 nights from £3,888 per person.
